To be fair tho, fortnite went from being a shitty survival tower defense game with a very small player base with its “beta/“game preview” launch, to being a very popular battle royal clone with one of the biggest and most active player bases that actively spends lots of money and generates lots of revenue for both the game company and people who play it. Yeah, it’s a clone of the battle royal genre but there are lots of those games out there who have not come close to having the same amount of success. Props to them

It is the most succesfull game of all time and almost have more active players than people living in Sweden. Online at the same time. Almost half the population of EU as monthly players. It is the game of the year. More people enjoy and love it than RDR2. Its simple as hell but thats just it.. games doesnt need to be super complex, super graphics etc. And i hate fortnite and my son keeps forcing me to play it with him.....

Fortnite - a fun, simple game (I assume) with low requirements that the entire family or classroom can enjoy. RDR2 - a complex, overly realistic simulator of crime life in the Wild West, that has serious age and platform restrictions. Seems like a no-brainer to me which one gets to be called GAME of the year.

Well, Fortnite isn’t that bad actually (especially the “save the world” part) but the community is straight up cancer. The game itself is free, you can play it on all platforms and it’s family friendly. Red dead redemption, is almost opposite. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing game, however it costs 60 bucks, is pretty gory and is only on PS4. Seems pretty clear to me why Fortnite is goty.

The matter is that all of you guys are just clearly talking about something you don't understand... Saying that you don't like the game is a thing, and no one can prove you wrong, it's your own taste. But stating that fortnite is for kids just prove how stupid and ignorant you all are Fortnite is KID FRIENDLY, but it absolutely isn't for kids. It requires more skills than any other battle royale out there, and takes months before you even start understanding the mechanics of it (if you want to be competitive in any way) Saying it's for kids just make you look like hipsters that just shit on it because it's mainstream. Stop judging something you don't know, it doesn't make you look cool because it's popular opinion, quite the opposite...
