Haikyu!!, Vol. 22: Land vs. Air
The semifinals of the Tokyo Area Qualifiers for the Spring Tournament have begun! It’s Nekoma vs. Fukurodani in a win-and-you’re-in match! Fukurodani’s ace, Bokuto, is in top form as he goes head-to-head with Nekoma’s defensive master, Yaku. Will the Cats be able to take down the Owls?!

An Awesome Change of Pace
Volume 22 of Haikyuu!! is probably a controversial volume. For the entire volume Karasuno takes a backseat to all the action. Furudate focuses on the Tokyo inter high qualifiers with teams such as Fukurodani and Nekoma playing as well as Nohebi. The three teams gets such extensive coverage that Karasuno is covered on less than 10 pages. For people who may not like these other teams this is a disappointing volume, for people who do like other teams, this is a breath of fresh air that allows us to see the growth of characters we last saw at the Tokyo training matches (gym 3 anyone), as well as seeing those who are fated to be involved in the battle of the trash heap. Lev has had extensive growth, Bokuto and Kuroo continued to be fun characters, and new characters like Konoha (jack of all trades, master of none), and Daisho, were a blast. It was extremely refreshing. Bonus content included two bonus stories and the usual sketches.
